Job Description

The role of the Supervising Advanced Practice Nurse (SAPN) at University Hospital is to manage patient care, oversee APP performance, and maintain standards of practice in Trauma, Critical Care, and Vascular Access. The SAPN utilizes advanced practice nursing expertise to provide care to patients and works collaboratively with Physicians, Nursing Director, and Managers to identify patient care and staff development needs. Key responsibilities include management of staff orientation, consultation and evaluation for patients, families, and healthcare team members, as well as conducting quality practices and data collection in collaboration with all healthcare disciplines. The SAPN also directs and supervises professional and paraprofessional staff members within the prescribed areas as assigned. Additionally, the SAPN participates in staff development programs, patient/family education programs, performance improvement, and education programs for patients and staff.

Qualifications

* Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey
* Three (3) years of nursing experience in Emergency Department, Critical Care, Medical/Surgical, or Perioperative services
* One year of experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Emergency, Critical Care, Adult, or Family
* Demonstrates effective leadership competencies to be carried out in the day-to-day activities of the department
* One (1) year of supervisory/managerial experience preferred
* BLS (CPR) and ACLS required
* Computer literacy required
