Division Director of Infectious Disease Opportunity

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as the Division Director of Infectious Disease at one of its leading teaching hospitals. This position will report directly to the Chairman, Department of Medicine, and play a key role in administrative and clinical leadership decision making for the department. The Division Director will oversee a larger Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and lead infectious disease services at a transplant center. The Director will also collaborate with regional hospitals to expand the system's infectious disease programs.
This Division Director position will initially have more clinical responsibilities and gain additional administrative and mentoring duties over time. Ideally, the candidate will have the desire to create a sub-region for the division, allowing for potential to expand and transition into a Regional Director of Infectious Disease role.
The Division Director will lead and grow the Infectious Disease division, focusing on innovative programs to enhance patient care. Key responsibilities include clinical leadership, clinical duties, research and academic contributions, and additional opportunities.
Clinical Leadership:
- Lead and grow the Infectious Disease division.
- Oversee clinical operations, including inpatient and outpatient services.
- Hold quarterly division meetings and oversee monthly schedules for both inpatient and ambulatory services.
- Develop specialized services, such as an expanded Travel Clinic and a transitions of care clinic for discharged patients.
Clinical Duties:
- Serve as the attending physician for the General ID service.
- Oversee the General Infectious Disease Clinic, providing direct patient care and mentoring fellows in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Research and Academic Contributions:
- Serve as the Principal Investigator on research projects.
- Support the Infectious Disease Fellowship Director in developing research projects for fellows.
- Foster educational excellence by mentoring faculty and providing lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows.
Requirements:
- MD or DO, board certified in Infectious Diseases.
- Minimum 7-10 years of clinical ID experience, with a proven track record in building clinical programs that improve patient outcomes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to mentor early-career physicians and fellows.
- Research experience.
- Passion for advancing infectious disease treatment and education.
