About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to join our California team at Atlas Technical Consultants. As a key member of our geotechnical engineering division, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance on geotechnical engineering aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Lead geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for buildings and infrastructure projects, including residential/commercial buildings, bridges, highways, railways, airports, pipelines, and levees/basins.
  • Direct and supervise subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, geotechnical data interpretation, and geotechnical instrumentation monitoring programs to ensure timely and within-budget delivery of projects.
  • Supervise and lead geotechnical design and analysis for shallow and deep foundations, earthworks recommendations, slope stability and seepage analyses, lateral earth pressure calculations, and other pertinent analyses in support of large-scale transportation projects.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and governmental personnel to ensure comprehensive geotechnical concerns are addressed.
  • Mentor and train junior geotechnical engineers and foster their professional development.
  • Support business development activities by fostering and maintaining long-term client relationships and developing a client base for providing high-level geotechnical engineering services.
  • Contribute to the state-of-practice and research of geotechnical engineering through technical presentations and publications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with an emphasis on geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical field investigation, and construction supervision.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer and Geotechnical Engineer in the state of California.
  • Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice required.
