Position Overview:
Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants is seeking a Lead Geotechnical Engineering Specialist to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will undertake a variety of essential tasks, including:
- Conducting comprehensive geotechnical assessments and analyses.
- Planning boring layouts for utility clearance.
- Overseeing drilling operations and supervising drill rigs.
- Classifying soil types and documenting boring logs, test pits, and core samples.
- Executing floor level surveys and providing testing and observation services.
- Reviewing engineering plans and specifications, and drafting geotechnical reports and correspondence.
Furthermore, the Lead Geotechnical Engineering Specialist will be tasked with the organization and compilation of laboratory testing and geotechnical calculations, which include:
- Slope stability analysis.
- Liquefaction assessment.
- Dynamic settlement evaluations.
- Pile design calculations.
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Geological Engineering is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Essential Skills:
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates may be considered for staff positions), ideally within a geotechnical consulting environment. A solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication abilities, a positive demeanor, strong organizational skills, and a robust work ethic. The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team is essential.
