The Role
As a Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant at One Medical (internally referred to as a Member Support Specialist/Lab Service Specialist), you will play a crucial role in providing an outstanding experience for our patients, assisting them in a vital aspect of their healthcare journey through venipuncture and various clinical support services.
You will serve as a patient ambassador in the office, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to service.
Your responsibilities will include removing barriers to care, ensuring a remarkable in-office patient experience, and supporting daily operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and facilities upkeep.
As the steward of the office environment, you will ensure that the lobby reflects the One Medical brand.
You will be the initial point of contact for patient feedback and provide additional support as needed by the Leads, Office Manager, or in-office providers.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver top-tier venipuncture services to a diverse patient population, from pediatrics to geriatrics.
- Assist with extended scope duties, including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vital signs, ear lavages, vaccinations, PPD tests, and swabs.
- Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, processing, inventory management, and tool sterilization.
- Manage dispensary responsibilities, including verifying counts, maintaining inventory, placing orders, and preparing prescriptions for patient pick-up.
- Support our members beyond the lab by addressing patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers with clerical tasks.
- Utilize C-I-CARE principles in all patient interactions to ensure a seamless and positive in-office experience.
- Handle front-of-house duties, including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and paperwork management.
- Assist senior patients with administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls and coordinating transportation.
- Contribute to team development through participation in team meetings and problem-solving initiatives.
- Perform daily office upkeep, including maintaining the appearance of patient and employee spaces and restocking supplies.
- Master our technology suite to effectively communicate with team members and complete daily tasks.
- Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in computer technology, including typing and navigating multiple software systems.
- Experience working collaboratively within diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to build trust during the collection process while delivering personalized, patient-centered care.
- Demonstrated resilience in the face of change and a capacity for quick learning.
- Phlebotomy experience and/or certification preferred.
- Experience with extended scope care, including non-blood specimen collection and processing, is a plus.
