Position Overview:

We are excited to announce an opening for an experienced Systems Engineer. Our work environment is characterized by a friendly and dynamic culture, offering ample opportunities for collaboration with all members of our project teams.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver critical information throughout the proposal, engineering, and fabrication stages to the estimating and project teams concerning all facets of Systems Engineering.
  • Formulate proposal and project-specific specifications for the development of P&IDs and oversee the installation of the project P&ID database, which includes numbering, tagging, and graphical symbols.
  • Assist the sales team in discussing technical details with the Business Development team and/or clients when required.
  • Update and develop P&IDs for the entire facility during project execution, which encompasses:

- Determining line sizes for all lines depicted on the P&IDs

- Conducting hydraulic calculations for all lines, including pump NPSH and thermosiphon reboilers

- Compiling line lists, including testing of piping

- Creating logic diagrams and cause & effect charts for the facility

- Compiling Alarm & Setpoint Lists

- Drafting process data sheets for utility equipment

- Outlining process requirements for all instruments

  • Prepare comprehensive Operating Manuals, Operator Training Presentations, and Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Plans.
  • Review and provide feedback on packaged equipment P&IDs, including vendor logic diagrams and cause & effect charts.
  • Evaluate equipment drawings for process-relevant aspects, engage in model reviews of the plant, and participate in HAZOP meetings as necessary.
  • Offer technical guidance and expertise to Project Engineering/manufacturing for ongoing work.
  • Design and size control and safety relief valves.
  • Support start-up, commissioning, and performance testing as needed.
  • Conduct field troubleshooting as required.
  • Maintain periodic customer contact, with travel requirements being less than 25%.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is essential; a Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the energy sector, with at least 3 years in process plants, is preferred but not essential.
  • Proficiency with process simulators such as ProMax, HYSYS, Symmetry, etc., along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, is required.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a detail-oriented approach while remaining innovative, are required.
  • Effective communication of process concepts to both internal and external stakeholders is necessary.
  • A registered Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in engineering or operations is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 environments is preferred but not required.
