Position Overview

This is a remote opportunity open to candidates with relevant experience.

Role Responsibilities

The forensic engineer will be tasked with identifying the specific causes of product, device, or material failures to enhance performance and safety. Forensic Engineers often play a crucial role in product liability cases and occasionally in criminal investigations, providing insights into design failures or product malfunctions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate the origins and causes of failures, damages, or defects in civil and structural contexts across various sites.
  • Analyze building system failures, determine their causes, and evaluate construction quality or maintenance practices.
  • Engage in response efforts for disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes.
  • Conduct field investigations, lead multi-party examinations, and document damaged properties.
  • Research failure modes and compliance requirements, offering recommendations for repairs or remediation.
  • Prepare clear, thorough reports and correspondence detailing the causes and origins of damages, adhering to established policies and client expectations.
  • Provide expert testimony in legal settings when necessary.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and engage with them in various social settings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in design across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors is preferred.
  • Experience with commercial and industrial facilities is advantageous.
  • Forensic experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Suite and CRM software.
  • Willingness to travel, primarily regionally, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
  • Physical capability to work at heights, such as roofs or scaffolding.
