Job Summary

This position is located in the Stroke Program of the Cardiovascular Health Unit within the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Division at the Minnesota Department of Health.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the implementation of communications efforts related to cardiovascular disease and stroke.
  • Integrate health equity, plain language, cross-cultural communication, and digital accessibility into planning and implementation.
  • Utilize best practices and community voice to communicate with, engage, and inspire focus populations.
  • Strategically plan and execute communications grants, contracts, and related activities.
  • Identify communication gaps and areas for process improvement.
  • Plan, create, and disseminate evidence-based original content.
Requirements
  • Three (3) years of communications or health-related experience.
  • Project management with internal and external partners.
  • Developing a communications plan that includes input from key stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and implementing communications activities.
  • Knowledge of health, public health, communications, anthropology, or related field.
  • Knowledge of communications principles and strategies.
  • Organization and coordination skills sufficient to manage assignments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in nursing, social work, communications, or public health.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of communications principles and strategies.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
