Terminal Operations Director

Ports America is seeking a highly skilled Marine Manager to lead our terminal operations team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for directing the planning and supervision of terminal operations and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Supervision: Assume a lead role in managing the company's vessel side operations, including training, mentoring, and developing interns and existing staff.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure labor and staff comply with accident prevention and safety programs and procedures, and lead safety committees and manage safety audits.
- Operational Planning: Develop short-range business plans to achieve company goals and objectives while operating within approved fiscal budgets.
- Cost Reduction and Efficiency: Identify areas of cost reduction and lead operational excellence initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Labor Management: Determine the amount of labor needed for each day, ensure labor is ordered appropriately, and make decisions affecting overtime costs and general expenditures.
- Payroll and Benefits: Ensure payroll accuracy and make appropriate changes as needed.
- Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with M&R/Terminal Departments to ensure equipment allocation meets operational demands, and communicate effectively with shippers, customers, and port staff.
- Performance Management: Develop, review, and approve efficient operational plans, and demonstrate the process for reviewing and evaluating employee performance.
- Training and Development
- Travel and Other Duties: Travel to support other operations as needed, and perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 3+ years of port terminal operations leadership experience
- Skills: Advanced experience with terminal computerized operating systems, advanced knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations, and valid US Driver's License
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher, advanced labor relations knowledge, and ability to communicate effectively with shippers, customers, and port staff
