Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join our team at Food Safety Net Services. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for preparing samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmentals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Aseptic Techniques: Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload to ensure the integrity and accuracy of test results.
  • Media and Reagents Management: Maintain media and reagents as needed for daily microbiological testing, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available and properly stored.
  • Inventory and Reporting: Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements, ensuring that all necessary materials are ordered and received in a timely manner.
  • Quality Control Monitoring: Perform quality control monitoring by taking incubator temperatures, inoculating control organisms, running media controls, and other tasks as required to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Independent Work: Independently pursue an assigned series of processes, procedures, or techniques in accordance with FSNS policies/procedures and customer requirements.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout all procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Share information in an open, and timely manner, and assist with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved.
  • Safety and Training: Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area, and responsible for the completion of required training.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED, Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of a food testing laboratory, ability to travel is preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components, potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens.
