POSITION SUMMARY: The Food Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in the development, execution, and upkeep of our food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance initiatives. This position involves overseeing adherence to USDA, FSMA, and HACCP standards across all departments, as well as managing vendor audits driven by customer requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the establishment and maintenance of the Crisis Management Program, which includes managing Product Traceability, conducting regular procedure reviews, and overseeing the Trace Recall Program. Direct the Mock Recall Team to ensure effective recall processes are in place.
- Supervise and uphold all company Quality programs, including GMPs, HACCP, Sanitation, Microbiology, Audits, Product Testing, and Recall procedures.
- Ensure the supervision and maintenance of all Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality Control Procedures, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
- Maintain both digital and physical records of HACCP and Food Safety Programs as required.
- Implement and manage the policies, procedures, and training components of the food safety system.
- Execute food safety strategies and maintain open communication with all departments to identify hazards and opportunities for process improvements.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and develop mitigation strategies for the Food Defense Program to minimize risks of intentional adulteration.
- Participate in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) audits by independent third parties and regulatory bodies. Analyze audit results and formulate corrective action plans for any non-conformances.
- Document and address any food safety complaints from customers, ensuring effective communication of resolutions.
- Maintain certifications as a HACCP manager and internal auditor.
- Exhibit strong teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and leadership skills.
- Complete all necessary documentation related to food safety, corrective actions, and customer requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Enology, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the Food, Beverage, Dairy, or Wine sectors. HACCP training and certification are mandatory, with additional experience in SQF, GFSI, and FSMA preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Proficient in writing reports and business correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills: Competence in calculating figures and applying basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret various instructions and define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Other Requirements: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with experience in network and internet applications.
