2nd shift schedule from 3 PM to 11 PM with rotating weekends and scheduled holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and employs security systems to uphold a comprehensive operational overview of the organization. Utilizes advanced technological systems within the Security Operations Center (SOC) for situational awareness, threat assessment, and investigative functions. Monitors potential risks that may negatively affect the organization through various internal and external data sources.

Utilizes the security management system, including CCTV, visitor management, infant protection, burglar alarm, fire alarm, and related systems to identify emergencies such as fires, incidents, or criminal activities.

Maintains the status and locations of on-duty Public Safety/Security personnel. Monitors and directs Public Safety/Security staff activities and assignments through radio systems and computer-aided dispatch systems. Keeps automated logs of Public Safety/Security staff communications and activities.
Responds to service requests, incidents, and alarms related to Security, Fire, and Safety.

Handles emergency and non-emergency calls from team members, the public, Public Safety/Security staff, law enforcement, and others via telephone, radio, and computer-aided dispatch systems, inputting relevant data into security management systems.

Assesses incoming information, questioning callers to ascertain their location and the nature of their issues. Follows established protocols to evaluate the urgency and validity of calls or alarms. Prioritizes calls and dispatches Public Safety personnel as necessary.
Communicates effectively in routine, urgent, and emergency scenarios. Maintains a central database to facilitate efficient operations and continuously updates organizational data. Seeks guidance from supervisors and peers to effectively engage with stakeholders throughout the incident lifecycle.
Stays informed of organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Ensures the security and confidentiality of information encountered during the performance of assigned duties.

License/Registration/Certification Required:
Certification from the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International (APCO); specifically, APCO's Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 certification within twelve months of employment.

Education Required:
GED or High School Equivalency Diploma

Experience Required:
At least one year of experience responding to alarms such as burglar and fire alarms.

Experience with monitoring hardware and/or software, including signal receivers, alarm monitoring software, security and fire hardware, CCTV, burglar, or fire panels; familiarity with emergency response protocols and processes (both public and private).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Proficient computer skills with the ability to type 35-40 words per minute.

Ability to read, comprehend, and articulate English clearly; must consistently use speech and hearing (correctable to normal levels required) to communicate with the public and co-workers, providing and receiving instructions via phones and radio.

Requires constant mental alertness and attention to detail while setting priorities and following up on assignments.

Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal abilities to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of personnel and the public.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The Security Operations Center provides continuous security monitoring and dispatch services to the Advocate Aurora enterprise. Public Safety Telecommunicators must be prepared to work in a 24/7 operational environment.
Incumbents operate in a high-pressure, fast-paced setting, with shifts determined by departmental needs and management directives. Shifts may include nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as required.

Extended periods of sitting at a workstation while using communication equipment are necessary, which may limit mobility except during scheduled breaks.

Work is conducted onsite in a secured, controlled, closely supervised, and highly structured environment.
Visual and muscular dexterity is required to operate communication equipment (computer-aided dispatch systems, telephones, and radios).

Constant use of vision (correctable to normal levels required) is necessary to observe, read, interact with the public and co-workers, and monitor security feeds; includes hand/eye coordination.
