Location: Southeast Wisconsin

Reports To: Community Day Program Manager, SE WI

Status: Full-time (hours may vary)

Pay: $19 - $21 / hour, based on experience

FLSA Status: Not applicable

The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin is a statewide non-profit organization committed to enhancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and related disabilities, along with their families, through advocacy, education, and a variety of programs and services.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Community Day Program Specialist (CDP Specialist) to join our team in Southeast Wisconsin. This role is essential in ensuring comprehensive case coordination and delivering direct programming services to individuals in the region.

The Community Day Program Specialist will play a pivotal role in implementing our Community Day Program(s) at a designated site. Responsibilities include overseeing community partnerships, serving as the primary parent liaison, managing scheduling, developing curriculum, and ensuring safety and supply management. The Specialist will also be instrumental in the growth and enhancement of the program offerings at the site.

As the main point of contact for families and funding sources, the Community Day Program Specialist will collaborate with other departments to provide holistic support for participants and their families. This includes conducting intake assessments, providing site tours, managing case documentation, and handling billing and authorizations.

We are looking for candidates with experience in working with individuals with disabilities. Strong organizational and prioritization skills are essential for effective site and program coordination. While supervisory experience is advantageous, it is not a requirement. The ideal candidate should be a quick learner with a passion for empowering individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.

To excel in this role, the Community Day Program Specialist must be proficient with technology and able to quickly adapt to new systems, including case management software. A solid understanding of MS Office and G Suite is necessary, and familiarity with participant management and scheduling systems is a plus.

As our organization continues to expand, we seek a candidate who is enthusiastic about contributing to our mission and shaping the future of our programs. We embrace a collaborative leadership approach, encouraging all team members to share ideas for organizational improvement.

Depending on program schedules, the CDP Specialist may need to work evenings and weekends as required.

    • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
    • Monitor participant goals and document progress.
  • Site Coordination:
    • Lead and manage participant groups in community settings.
    • Oversee program schedules to ensure consistency across the region.
    • Secure staffing and manage communications with participants and parents.
    • Create and modify individual participant goals and curriculum.
    • Collaborate with the Community Day Programs Regional Manager on program offerings.

  • Experience working with families and individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver's license and insured vehicle required.

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity and maturity in interactions.
  • Ability to manage emergencies and behavioral situations effectively.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Capable of multitasking and adhering to quality management timelines.

Compensation: This hourly position offers a competitive wage of $19-$21 per hour.
