Job Overview

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families? Lutheran Services in Iowa is seeking a dedicated Resettlement Caseworker to assist in the integration of refugee communities through our Immigrant and Refugee Community Services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Caseworker, you will play a vital role in guiding newly arrived refugee clients through the resettlement journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating access to essential services such as housing arrangements, employment opportunities, school enrollment, and more.
  • Providing transportation and support for clients during appointments.
  • Collaborating with volunteers and community organizations to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Conducting client assessments, setting achievable goals, and developing self-sufficiency plans using a client-centered, trauma-informed approach.
  • Maintaining accurate records and comprehensive case files.

Service activities may take place during regular business hours, evenings, or weekends, depending on client needs. Mileage reimbursement is provided.


Qualifications

Required: A Bachelor's degree in health and human services or a related field, along with at least one year of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered, such as an Associate's degree with three years of experience or a high school diploma/GED with five years of related work.

Relevant experience includes roles in human services, family support, mental health, public health, nursing, community resource navigation, and work with immigrant and refugee populations.
