Purpose of the Case Manager Role

The Case Manager will provide support and services to refugees to help them successfully integrate into their new community in the United States. This role is a combination of in-office and remote work, with travel to Trenton and Jersey City required.

Responsibilities
  • Welcome and orient refugee populations to the community and culture.
  • Assist Cuban-Haitian Entrants clients in developing self-sufficiency plans.
  • Assist clients with public benefits applications and referrals to obtain SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, and public education.
  • Provide case management and identify support services to help clients integrate and succeed in their new community, including ESL, job training, transportation, immigration services, and childcare.
  • Document all contacts and services in client case files and maintain case note logs.
  • Provide translation/interpretation and accompaniment to clients when necessary.
  • Attend community outreach events and meetings, trainings, and conferences about services for Cuban Haitians.
  • Keep informed about refugee and immigrant issues and available services to refugees.
  • Represent the program at meetings and speaking engagements relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.

Experience: 3 years of previous work experience and interest in refugee resettlement, case management, or other direct social services to migrants and refugees.

Other Skills: Fluency in Haitian Creole or Spanish is required. Superior English written and verbal communication skills are required. The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word) and internet applications.
