JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a key member of the Internal Audit Department, the Senior Financial Auditor plays a crucial role in the execution of audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting, with opportunities to lead select discussions.
The primary measure of success is the identification of significant potential issues regarding the design and effectiveness of controls, alongside the creation of reliable documentation to substantiate their work.
The Senior Financial Auditor must effectively manage relationships with auditees, demonstrate strong teamwork capabilities, and take ownership of their personal and professional development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Control Impact:
Identifies critical issues where controls may be inadequately designed or not functioning effectively. Evaluates the risk and control environment for processes within designated areas. Validates the completion of agreed-upon action plans under supervision. Maintains an understanding of the financial services industry and its risk and control environment, identifying emerging risks. Collaborates closely with auditees to ensure timely progress and completion of agreed-upon action plans.
Audit Execution:
Assists the Audit Manager or Senior Audit Manager in executing audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
Completes risk-focused fieldwork punctually and within budget constraints, promptly notifying the auditor in charge of any arising issues or potential risks to budgets or timelines.
Communicates clearly and concisely, demonstrating detailed knowledge of the audited area. Understands and conducts root cause analysis for identified issues, showcasing a strong grasp of audit methodologies.Quality Process:
Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of company policies and procedures, particularly regarding work paper documentation standards. Independently prepares work papers that fully comply with Internal Audit Department policies and procedures. Engages in continuous improvement initiatives. Integrates risk and control processes into daily responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk, escalating issues as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree preferred; a master's degree is a plus.
Previous internal or external audit experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Commitment to teamwork and collaboration
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Relevant certifications related to the candidate's responsibilities are beneficial but not required, such as CPA, CFA, Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
Knowledge or experience in financial risk management or quantitative analysis is a plus.
