The Senior Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the Accounting and Administration Senior Manager with various daily financial operations. This includes tasks such as journal entries, tax return submissions at both federal and provincial levels, bank reconciliations, fixed-asset reporting, and managing accounts payable, along with other special projects as required.

Key Responsibilities:
Foster a collaborative team environment.
Conducts analysis of fixed-asset invoices and generates detailed fixed-asset reports, ensuring compliance during external audits and tax preparations. Reconciles fixed assets with the general ledger.

Ensures adherence to the company's capitalization and depreciation policies, verifying that class lives and depreciation methods are accurately applied.

Prepares comprehensive bank reconciliations and compiles financial data to document business transactions, making necessary entries to accounts.

Oversees the complete accounts payable process for Ryan, LLC, which includes entering vendor invoices into the accounting system, processing vendor payments via cheque or electronic funds transfer, and maintaining meticulous records related to accounts payable.

Collects relevant data and prepares monthly GST and QST returns, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal procedures.

Maintains journal entries and manages departmental archiving activities. Reviews, investigates, and rectifies discrepancies in financial entries, documents, and reports.

Updates monthly commission allocations for Managers, Sales and Use Tax, and Directors of Business Development, while verifying adjustments across territories, companies, and new client commissions.

Recommends enhancements to accounting systems and control procedures. Prepares additional general ledger reconciliation schedules as necessary and gathers data for external auditors and third-party tax preparers.

Manages petty cash and fixed asset control, including the maintenance and ordering of promotional gift cards. Responsible for processing incoming mail and verifying as well as preparing incoming cheques for the accounts receivable coordinator.

Performs other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution, along with two to four years of relevant experience and/or training in a similar setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research, along with experience using various accounting systems. Familiarity with Workday Finance is advantageous.

Certificates and Licenses:
A valid driver's license is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position entails limited supervisory duties, including training staff, assigning tasks, and reviewing work for accuracy and completeness.
