Position Summary:
The Employee Relations and Investigations Specialist will play a crucial role in overseeing workplace inquiries, documentation, and the development of policies and programs. The ideal candidate will offer guidance and training to staff across all levels regarding labor relations, conduct, and performance management issues. Additionally, they will assist in process mapping, optimization, and automation as required.
Key Responsibilities:With a degree of autonomy in decision-making, the Employee Relations and Investigations Specialist will:
- Conduct thorough investigations addressing various employee relations issues, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, and other breaches of policies and regulations.
- Advise and mentor managers and supervisors on managing performance-related concerns, investigations, and disciplinary measures, including the formulation and execution of performance improvement plans (PIPs).
- Organize training sessions, presentations, and workshops to ensure staff understanding of all pertinent policies and protocols regarding employee discipline, EEO, and Conflict of Interest.
- Document, investigate, and resolve employee discipline and performance-related issues. Additionally, you may perform detailed reporting and analysis to identify trends and recommend employee training, programs, and policies based on your findings.
- Assist the investigations team with witness preparation, evidence collection interviews, and document preparation for legal and labor-related matters concerning employee misconduct and performance.
- Act as a liaison to oversight agencies, partners, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and maintain quality assurance.
- Analyze trends in investigations and complaints, providing leadership with actionable recommendations to proactively mitigate occurrences of disciplinary actions, terminations, resignations, and violation complaints.
- Maintain precise and easily accessible case records and reports.
- Review and analyze employee records, case files, and legal documents necessary to respond to requests for disciplinary actions and processes.
- Ensure timely communication of charges and penalties to all relevant parties in accordance with labor and EEO standards.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in employee relations, investigations, employment law, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 1 year of experience leading labor/employee investigations.
- Familiarity with inclusive employee engagement and restorative conflict resolution practices.
- Ability to engage with individuals at all organizational levels while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey high-level information, perspectives, and conclusions.
- Experience in interpreting highly confidential information related to internal workplace investigations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of employment law and best practices for investigations and employee relations.
- Strong skills and experience in conducting investigative interviews.
