Job Title: Senior Accountant

SmartBank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

  • Interact with other business units throughout the bank to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Perform complex financial analysis and modeling, including Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) calculations.
  • Back up regulatory reporting functions, including SEC, Federal Reserve, and FDIC reporting.
  • Gather, calculate, and track incentive data to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly federal and state tax provision calculations.
  • Maintain and update Bank accrual and prepaid accounting systems.
  • Maintain and update Bank fixed asset accounting systems.
  • Maintain and update Bank investment portfolio and safekeeping activity.
  • Assist with CDARS, ICS, and Brokered CD funding requests.
  • Perform verification and reconciliation of general ledger and internal accounts.
  • Review, balance, and interpret system reports, making corrections as needed.
  • Investigate outages and problems, ensuring follow-up action when necessary.
  • Prepare and process journal entries and debit/credit tickets.
  • Verify that all transactions comply with SmartBank policies and procedures.
  • Organize and prepare audit requests.
  • Organize and prepare analysis of accounts.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking-related laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Two years of experience in banking or accounting/finance preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical skills and a general knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Proficient level of general computer competency.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Monitor own work to ensure quality and apply feedback to improve performance.
