About the Role

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tribal Outreach Liaison to join our team at the Stephenson Cancer Center. As a key member of our community outreach team, you will play a critical role in coordinating community outreach and engagement activities to advance our mission of decreasing the burden of cancer in Oklahoma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Outreach Coordination: Develop and implement initiatives to increase cancer awareness, screening, and education in Oklahoma's Tribal communities. Collaborate with mission-aligned organizations to enhance the reach and impact of cancer awareness, screening, and education activities in Tribal communities.
  • Community Liaison: Establish and foster positive relationships with mission-aligned community organizations, focusing on Tribal communities in Oklahoma. Represent the Stephenson Cancer Center at community events and collaborate with tribal organizations and their healthcare systems to develop and implement cancer awareness, screening, and education initiatives.
  • Program Implementation and Coordination: Serve as project manager for the development, implementation, and evaluation of community-based cancer awareness, screening, and education programs, focusing on Tribal communities and their healthcare delivery systems in Oklahoma.
  • Community Grants: Assist with the identification and application for federal, state, and community grants from organizations, such as the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society, focusing on Tribal communities and their healthcare delivery systems in Oklahoma.
  • Travel: Travel, including potentially overnight travel to Tribal communities in northeastern, southeastern, southern, and western Oklahoma, is required.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 24 months of experience in marketing, public relations, outreach programs, or a closely related field.
  • Equivalent/ Substitution: Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of experience.
Working Conditions
  • Physical: Sit for prolonged periods. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Use of a computer.
  • Environmental: Standard Office Environment.
