The primary objective of this position is to deliver technical expertise and bolster business initiatives through the creation of new specialty paper products. This includes planning, designing, and executing experiments and trials to produce product prototypes that align with specific objectives and timelines. Additionally, the role involves developing novel testing methodologies and product specifications as required.
Key Responsibilities- Develop new products in accordance with Pixelle's strategic growth objectives in specialty papers.
- Generate innovative ideas and intellectual property that drive new sales and revenue streams.
- Enhance client relationships by preparing prototypes, defining product specifications and costs, and coordinating pilot trials.
- Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving for both existing and new products across all Pixelle facilities.
- Provide technical support for procurement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Foster collaborative relationships within product development, operations, technical, and sales & marketing teams.
- Establish external connections to stay informed about the latest technologies relevant to current or future business ventures.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of industry trends and market dynamics, identifying potential threats and opportunities.
- Monitor and report on project progress using project management methodologies, ensuring thorough documentation of results.
- Engage with customers as necessary to gather insights and feedback.
- Bachelor's degree in paper science, chemical engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience; equivalent work experience may substitute for formal education.
- Familiarity with specialty paper coatings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of coating processes, materials, and applications is essential.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, along with teamwork and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in customer interactions.
