Position Summary
The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is accountable for directing and overseeing the engineering, maintenance, and facility operations within the organization.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Conducts interviews, selects, and trains new personnel within the department.
- Manages the daily operations and workflow of the team.
- Delivers timely and constructive performance feedback.
- Administers disciplinary actions and terminations in line with company policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the operations of assigned areas to meet safety, quality, productivity, and financial objectives that align with the company's overall goals.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, facility management, inventory control, grounds upkeep, HVAC systems, and work order management.
- Develop, implement, and assess the effectiveness of maintenance strategies to ensure efficient resource management.
- Provide hands-on leadership for engineering projects, including workflow optimization, equipment justification, and implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by engaging team members in identifying opportunities for enhancing productivity, labor efficiency, and quality, with a focus on maximizing equipment uptime.
- Evaluate and select external contractors, including reviewing proposals and contracts.
- Collaborate with operations managers to establish and execute a preventive maintenance program for all equipment, ensuring proper documentation of scheduled and completed tasks.
- Work with operations managers to prioritize maintenance projects and repairs, with regular reviews and updates.
- Design and implement a cross-training program to cultivate a versatile workforce capable of servicing all production equipment and facilities.
- Communicate performance results against established goals to team members, using outcomes to foster accountability and identify areas for improvement.
- Recruit, develop, supervise, and evaluate team members, promoting positive employee relations and enforcing company policies and safety standards.
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget effectively.
- Actively support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a role model by embodying the company's core values consistently.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- At least five years of supervisory or management experience in Engineering and/or Maintenance.
- A minimum of five years of experience with electronic drives, PLC installation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
- Ability to learn and utilize company-specific software and applications.
- Demonstrated capability to lead change, manage tasks effectively, and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in self-leadership, accountability for results, and professional conduct.
- Skilled in effective communication, relationship building, and talent development.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel may be required for company-related meetings.
Work Environment
This role is performed in a manufacturing setting with regular exposure to dust, noise, and potential hazards associated with machinery, as well as occasional exposure to fumes and chemicals. The position requires the ability to navigate the production area, remain stationary for extended periods, and perform manual tasks including bending, twisting, and lifting.
