Chief Operations Officer

Centennial is seeking a Chief Operations Officer to spearhead operational excellence for a nonprofit organization committed to delivering education and support to vulnerable populations. We require a proactive leader to oversee and enhance daily operations, ensuring effective program execution and organizational advancement.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic visionary and a proficient communicator. This position will work closely with the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and senior management to realize the organization's mission and strategic objectives, manage resources effectively, and uphold high standards of program delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership:
- Provide organizational guidance and leadership across all facets of the organization's operations, including finance, human resources, program oversight, information technology, and administration.
- Formulate and execute policies and procedures aimed at enhancing efficiency, ensuring compliance, and improving overall effectiveness.
- Collaborate effectively to oversee the respective programs, program directors, and their teams to guarantee the successful implementation of all projects and initiatives.
- Supervise program evaluation, impact assessment, and reporting to gauge effectiveness and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
- Partner with the finance team to create and manage the annual budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure long-term financial viability.
- Utilize data-driven insights to optimize resource allocation, ensuring transparency and accountability in financial reporting.
- Provide consistent, accurate, and timely financial reports to support operational requirements and furnish the board of directors with precise information.
- Assist in fundraising initiatives and grant applications to secure financial support for the organization's programs and projects.
- In collaboration with the Director of Development, foster relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to broaden the organization's network and resource base.
- Encourage a positive and inclusive workplace culture that promotes professional development, collaboration, and innovation.
- Identify talent gaps and implement recruitment, training, and retention strategies to cultivate a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Establish and maintain regular accountability systems and reporting protocols.
- Develop and uphold risk management strategies and ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
- Proactively address potential risks and issues to protect the organization's reputation and assets.
- Engage in the formulation and execution of the organization's strategic plan.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and initiatives, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as necessary.
- Collaborate with the President/CEO to assist the Board of Directors, providing regular updates, reports, and analyses on organizational performance and key metrics.
- Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and forums, building relationships with key stakeholders and advocating for the organization's mission.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing/Communications, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of senior management experience in the business sector with a proven history in operational leadership and program oversight.
- Extensive experience managing multiple disciplines, programs, divisions, or teams.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget development, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with staff, donors, partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders, including nonprofits, corporations, government, and educational institutions.
- Demonstrated leadership and team motivation capabilities, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making and a focus on outcomes and impact.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices for the organization.
- Passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to making a positive community impact.
