Role Contribution: The Sales Associate will support the daily mission-integrated operations of the store. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective and economical management of the Goodwill store, which in turn funds the development and placement of individuals served.

Organizational Structure: Reporting to the Store Manager, the Sales Associate is part of the Donated Goods Retail Operations team and is responsible for the daily functions of the retail establishment. Key responsibilities include processing customer transactions accurately, maintaining a well-stocked and appealing merchandise display, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position also involves assisting in the training and development of team members, clients, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficient use of a computerized register system.
  • Ability to perform basic financial calculations for cash handling and register reconciliation.
  • Staff assigned to a register must count their cash drawer before and after each shift and reconcile it at the end of their shift to ensure accuracy.

· Deliver outstanding customer service by welcoming customers and assisting with inquiries regarding store operations and merchandise.

  • Meet production standards for sorting, hanging, pricing, stocking, and pulling items.
  • Ensure proper rotation of all products.
  • Sort donations in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Perform basic calculations to track donations, count production, and price donated goods per Goodwill standards.
  • Ensure proper handling and processing of incoming donations in compliance with Goodwill policies, including the use of a pallet jack.
  • Responsible for training and developing team members within the framework of Goodwill policies and procedures.

Additional Duties:

  • Maintain punctual and reliable attendance.
  • Exhibit professionalism and a friendly demeanor towards the public and colleagues at all times.
  • Assist with loading and unloading store merchandise as required.
  • Support store security measures.
  • Notify management of low or overstocked items.
  • Perform necessary cleaning duties as needed.
  • Adhere to all Goodwill policies and procedures regarding sales, exchanges, cash handling, and safety.
  • Responsible for executing assigned tasks in alignment with our Guiding Principles.
  • Ensure a positive experience for customers and donors.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

· Must successfully pass skills and knowledge assessments.

· Pass drug screening and background checks.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical requirements include the ability to twist, bend, squat, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, and pull. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and utilize equipment to assist in lifting and moving items over 40 pounds (common items include, but are not limited to, bags of clothing, televisions, computers, sofas, kitchen appliances, bicycles, and bedroom sets).

The working environment is primarily indoors with occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and may involve contact with occupational allergens, including dust, animal hair, and mold. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
