The Packaging Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the operation of packaging machinery, ensuring compliance with company standards while working closely with mechanical and supervisory staff. This role is pivotal in guaranteeing that all team members are adequately trained and positioned to produce high-quality products safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will exemplify leadership on a dynamic production floor, adhering to process and safety protocols, while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Food Safety Management Systems and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Perform all duties outlined in the packaging team member job description.
  • Manage daily communications and attend necessary meetings.
  • Oversee the canning, bottling, or kegging of kombucha products in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure safe operation of packaging machinery.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate packaging staff on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and daily operations.
  • Promote company culture and core values among the team.
  • Collaborate across departments to meet packaging objectives.
  • Guide the team methodically to achieve daily production targets.
  • Ensure accuracy in batch ticket completion and proper tank connections.
  • Conduct start-up, shut-down, cleaning, and cleaning-in-place (CIP) procedures.
  • Lead special projects as required.
  • Verify completion of previous day's workload.
  • Maintain open communication with the Packaging Supervisor, including end-of-day reporting.
  • Maximize production team efficiency and implement new processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Work independently while seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Ensure the team has all necessary materials for efficient operations.
  • Oversee adherence to safety protocols by all staff members.
  • Assist with scheduling as needed.
  • Step in for Packaging Operators when required.

  • Support and adhere to Humm policies, SOPs, and GMP.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and department heads.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Compensation and Benefits:

Wages: Starting at $25.00/hr, with opportunities for increases based on company performance and individual reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing protocols and sanitation, preferably in food or beverage industries.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain within the first 60 days.
  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet usage.
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and task prioritization skills.
  • Ability to serve as a role model in all situations.
  • Effective at building relationships with cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Shifts may include days, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Exposure to various cleaning agents and a noisy production floor.
  • Repetitive tasks in a humid environment.
  • Ability to handle heavy pallets using a pallet jack.
