Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Facility/Plant Manager, the Plant Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operational duties and requirements of the Power Plant, leading a team of both direct and indirect reports. This role offers numerous opportunities for learning, development, and career advancement across various plants within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional leadership in environmental, health, and safety practices to ensure zero accidents, no harm to individuals, and no environmental damage while ensuring compliance with all permit regulations.
  • Lead and mentor personnel to effectively manage tasks that align with the operational objectives of the facility.
  • Guide and oversee efforts to maintain optimal boiler and turbine performance.
  • Coordinate work and projects with other departments to ensure efficient daily operations of all personnel.
  • Administer and supervise studies aimed at enhancing plant and equipment operations, and monitor the effectiveness of operational manuals and procedures, implementing changes as necessary.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Ensure the plant is prepared for unusual situations while maintaining safe and efficient daily operations.
  • Inspect boilers and machinery proficiently to meet performance targets, manage, track, and implement technical training programs, and develop new training as needed.
  • Compile and present various technical reports as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of operational areas to ensure a safe working environment.

Working Conditions

This position requires 24/7 availability with 12-hour rotating shifts in an industrial plant environment, with overtime as necessary.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a B.S. in Engineering or equivalent plant operations supervisory/managerial experience. Relevant experience should include power plant operations or high-pressure boiler operations, with a solid understanding of power plant functions.

Experience in materials processing (e.g., conveyors, cranes, hoppers) is essential. ASME, QRO/CFO Certification is desirable, or the ability to qualify for this certification within six months of employment.

Preferred Experience

  • 10+ years in a supervisory or managerial role within an industrial or power generation facility.
  • Experience in a specialty chemical plant or coal-fired power plant with significant material handling is highly preferred.
  • Maintenance experience with outages and rotating electrical generation equipment (e.g., turbines, generators).
  • Knowledge of electrical and control systems, air compressors, condensate pumps, and cooling water systems.
  • Understanding of solid fuel combustion practices and materials handling processes.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and safety management.

Additional Skills and Abilities

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities, are essential. Off-hours and on-call work may be required. Candidates should be career-oriented, possess a hands-on analytical approach, and demonstrate a sharp learning curve with skills in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
