Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Grant Accountant to join our team at Marquette University. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting, administration, and reporting requirements of all externally funded grants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor grant accounts and collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) and/or the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review, approve, and analyze grant expenditures to ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance and Marquette University Business Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly cash draws and/or invoices to ensure timely cash inflows.
  • Support annual University Financial and Uniform Guidance audit functions.
  • Prepare, review, and submit interim and final financial reporting to funding agencies.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Establish new grant accounts to expedite the use of research funds.
  • Contribute to the updating, revising, automating, and streamlining of grant accounting procedures.
  • Maintain, track, tag, and inventory grant-funded assets.
  • Prepare, send, collect, analyze, and resolve issues with Time and Effort Certification.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, preferably in accounting.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with strong Excel, Word, and other word-processing software skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with grants.
  • Ability to support the University's Catholic, Jesuit mission.
  • Understanding of compliance.
  • Supervisory experience.
