Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to contribute to our financial operations. This role provides a unique chance to work in a hybrid environment, blending remote work with in-office collaboration. The successful candidate will oversee financial data and compliance, maintaining precise records for accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial transactions and reconciliations. This position is vital to the Finance department and will significantly influence our financial strategy and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Execute month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, variance analysis, audit schedules, and distribution of departmental reports.
2. Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results for various departments.
3. Conduct detailed account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting analysis within the general ledger.
4. Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
5. Manage the preparation and timely submission of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
6. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
7. Develop, implement, and uphold financial controls and guidelines.
8. Handle grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, re-budgeting, and grant closeout activities.
9. Ensure adherence to GAAP principles.
10. Assist in preparing the annual budget, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
11. Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures, including reviewing and implementing process and system enhancements.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. CPA certification is mandatory.
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
4. Proficient in accounting software, with Sage Intacct preferred.
5. Strong knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Experience in a non-profit setting and familiarity with 990 forms and grant/donation accounting is highly desirable.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
10. High attention to detail and accuracy.
11. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
12. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
