Position Overview:

We are in search of a skilled, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to enhance our financial team. This role provides a unique chance to operate in a hybrid model, blending the advantages of remote work with the collaborative nature of an office setting. The ideal candidate will oversee our financial data and compliance, ensuring precise management of accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. This position is vital to our Finance department and will significantly influence our financial strategy and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Execute month-end closing tasks, including the preparation of journal entries, variance analysis, audit schedules, and distribution of departmental reports.
2. Prepare, analyze, and present operating results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for each department.
3. Conduct thorough account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting analysis within the general ledger.
4. Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
5. Manage the preparation and timely submission of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
6. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
7. Develop, implement, and uphold financial controls and guidelines.
8. Supervise grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, re-budgeting, and grant closeout processes.
9. Ensure adherence to GAAP principles.
10. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
11. Engage in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures, including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
12. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. CPA certification is mandatory.
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related discipline.
4. Proficiency in accounting software; Sage Intacct is highly preferred.
5. Strong understanding of financial accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and GAAP principles.
6. Experience in a non-profit setting and familiarity with 990 forms and grant/donation accounting is highly desirable.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
10. High attention to detail and accuracy.
11. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
12. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
