Position Overview:

Raytheon Technologies is seeking a talented Research Engineer focused on Collaborative Autonomy and Human-Machine Interaction. This role is integral to our Autonomous Collaborative Systems team, which operates within the Artificial Intelligence domain. Our team is dedicated to pioneering research in areas such as computer vision, decision-making processes, knowledge representation, and the development of trustworthy AI systems.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Research Engineer, you will:
  • Conduct research and develop innovative algorithms aimed at enhancing intelligent control and decision-making in collaborative systems.
  • Design and implement prototype computer vision algorithms applicable to various sectors including robotics, manufacturing, and inspection.
  • Prototype and simulate autonomous systems by writing code, developing software for simulation and visualization, and supporting real-time demonstrations.
  • Design experiments, analyze data, and compile findings into comprehensive technical reports and publications.
  • Lead and contribute to both internal and external research initiatives, crafting proposals to secure funding.
  • Establish partnerships with leading institutions and organizations to further research objectives.
  • Share research outcomes through presentations, reports, and publications in reputable journals.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in autonomous systems, AI, and machine learning.
  • Expertise in computer vision and deep learning techniques.
  • Experience with sensor fusion and signal processing.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, and CUDA.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional desirable skills include:
  • Experience in managing technical projects and leading small teams.
  • Proficiency in modern software development practices, including automated testing and continuous integration.
  • Knowledge of multimodal modeling and large language models.

Education:
A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics is required.
