We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Scientist to join our team at RTX Corporation. As a Principal Investigator, you will be responsible for leading research and development activities in the field of Additive Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead novel research projects to advance Additive Manufacturing technology
  • Collaborate with industry partners, academia, and government agencies to develop new technologies and solutions
  • Lead process development activities to improve print capability, increase speed, reduce cost, and enhance material performance
  • Develop and utilize advanced tools and equipment to characterize machines and process space
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support and improve the full value stream
  • Provide process expertise and best practices to RTX Business Units
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in a related field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, etc.)
  • Minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and hands-on experience working with laboratory equipment
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Experience with advanced build processors, tool path development, and implementation
  • Scripting experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript, or similar
  • Experience with software and tools used in Additive Manufacturing, including CAD packages
  • Hands-on experience with metal laser powder-bed-fusion AM equipment
  • Working understanding of AM machine sensors and control systems
