About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Combustion and Propulsion Team at Raytheon Technologies. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced combustor and fuel/air mixer systems for gas turbines, rockets, and other novel combustors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced combustor and fuel/air mixer systems using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other analytical methods
- Collaborate with our inter-disciplinary research team to develop innovative solutions for gas turbine combustion, pressure gain combustion, and advanced propulsion concepts
- Participate in research proposals to Raytheon Technologies business units and government agencies
- Develop strong customer relationships within and outside of Raytheon Technologies
- Demonstrate technical excellence and innovation in the delivery of advanced technology
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in designing state-of-the-art combustors and fuel/air mixers
- Proficient knowledge of combustion science, fluid mechanics, and chemical kinetics as applied to advanced propulsion technologies
- Demonstrated ability to deliver to challenging technical objectives through creative problem solving and innovative thinking
- Experience in the application of analytical skills to the development of new technology
- Record of technical contributions, including patents or publications
- Analytical and communication skills required
- US Citizenship or permanent residency required
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of combustor architectures, including conventional RQL, staged, and lean combustors
- Experience with combustor component design, including injectors, liners, and prediffusers
- Experience with low net carbon combustor design, such as hydrogen, ammonia, and/or sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs)
- System-level architecture exploration for advanced propulsion systems

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $96,000 - $200,000. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function, and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
