Role Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer I plays a pivotal role within our IT division, requiring a robust background in information technology, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in both independent and team settings. This position demands self-motivation and expertise to provide technical insights that drive the design, implementation, and enhancement of intricate systems, guided by a Principal Engineer or Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitates discussions with business stakeholders and vendors to gather essential information. Collaborates with leadership, architecture teams, and end users to define system requirements and conduct feasibility analyses on potential modifications to existing and future security and technical architectures.
- Develops and presents system specifications, logical and physical architecture diagrams, and implementation strategies. Delivers efficient and cost-effective solutions that meet business objectives, including hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Engages with colleagues to formulate future plans, resource needs, migration strategies, and project timelines. Creates and presents findings to Engineering and Architecture Review Boards.
- Designs, supports, and maintains custom system integrations tailored to customer needs while staying current with emerging IT systems technologies.
- Identifies and addresses risks and issues following established processes, providing necessary data to leadership and peers.
- Maintains compliance with preferred technologies, methodologies, standards, and policies while enhancing technical knowledge and business acumen within the discipline.
Job Scope
This role involves designing, delivering, documenting, and supporting infrastructure systems. The Senior Systems Engineer I will possess in-depth knowledge of technology applications across various business areas, driving technological innovation to create new business opportunities and address complex challenges.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 4-7 years of experience in IT infrastructure design, application design, or cloud computing.
- Proven experience in system administration and the ability to design and document processes and procedures.
- Experience in transitioning work to operational teams and familiarity with Solution Architecture, Systems Administration, VMware vSphere, and CISCO technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information in an accessible manner.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships and demonstrate strong teamwork capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as NERC-CIP, FERC, or AZ900.
- Experience in developing scalable applications and a deeper understanding of programming languages.
