Role Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer I plays a pivotal role within our IT division, requiring a strong background in information technology and exceptional problem-solving capabilities. This position demands the ability to work autonomously, mentor others, and collaborate effectively within a team environment. The ideal candidate will bring self-motivation and expertise to provide technical insights that drive the design, implementation, and optimization of intricate systems, guided by senior engineering leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate discussions with business stakeholders and vendors to gather essential information. Collaborate with leadership and project teams to ascertain system requirements and conduct feasibility analyses for potential changes in security and technical architectures.
  • Draft and distribute system specifications, logical and physical architecture diagrams, and implementation plans. Deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions that meet business needs, including hands-on configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Engage with colleagues to formulate future plans, resource requirements, migration strategies, and project timelines. Present findings to Engineering and Architecture Review Boards.
  • Design, support, and maintain custom system integrations tailored to customer needs. Stay informed about current and emerging IT systems technologies.
  • Identify and document risks and issues, ensuring appropriate actions are taken. Provide relevant data to leadership and peers.
  • Maintain compliance with preferred technologies, methodologies, and standards while enhancing technical knowledge and business acumen.

Job Scope

This role involves designing, delivering, documenting, and supporting infrastructure systems while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of technology applications across various business areas. The Senior Systems Engineer I will lead technological innovations that drive new business opportunities and address complex challenges.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 4-7 years of experience in IT infrastructure design or 6-9 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in system administration and the ability to design and document processes.
  • Experience in transitioning work to operational teams and maintaining knowledge of Solution Architecture, Systems Administration, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and demonstrate teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as NERC-CIP or AZ900.
  • Experience in building scalable applications and a deeper understanding of programming languages.
