Position Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to develop new or enhance existing CICS environments to support innovative applications or re-engineering projects within the CICS framework. Additionally, this position involves troubleshooting and resolving issues related to CICS application software, configuration, and other software-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The specialist will establish new CICS environments and configure Resource Definition Online (RDO) settings to meet application demands across various life cycles, including Integration, Training, Acceptance, and Production, adhering to established CICS build standards.
  • Modification of CICS architecture will be necessary to eliminate potential Single Points of Failure within the system.
  • Processing of Job Control Language (JCL) and RDO updates will be conducted based on service requests assigned by management.
  • Preparation of change management documentation and procedures will be required, utilizing templates provided by the management team.
  • Updating CICS configuration documentation to accurately reflect architectural changes is essential.
  • Collaboration with application developers and testers will ensure that all CICS resources, such as Files, Programs, Transactions, DB2, and IDMS, are properly identified and defined.
  • Development and implementation of monitoring capabilities for the CICS production environment will be necessary to identify issues and generate automated alerts for the designated personnel.
  • Providing 24/7 pager support for CICS-related issues, with a commitment to respond within 30 minutes of notification.
  • Offering technical expertise on CICS application and configuration matters, maintaining a full-time schedule via a laptop workstation.
  • Troubleshooting CICS systems and application issues will be a critical part of the role, facilitating necessary corrective actions.
