Job Title: Direct Support Professional I

At Institute for Community Living, we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional I to join our team. As a DSP I, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional I will provide a variety of levels of support and services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including encouraging, guiding, teaching, and advocating for their needs. This role requires a strong commitment to providing person-centered care and supporting individuals in achieving their goals and aspirations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support and services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including personal care, household tasks, and community integration.
  • Assist individuals with daily living tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Encourage and support individuals in developing their skills and abilities, including motor skills, mobility skills, emotional skills, personal skills, communication skills, financial skills, and working skills.
  • Participate in staff meetings and communicate observations and suggestions for improving services and programs.
  • Assist with medication administration, medical procedures, and other health-related tasks.
  • Perform household maintenance and cleaning tasks, including laundry, cleaning, and trash removal.
  • Assist with meal preparation and planning, including grocery shopping and cooking.
  • Provide transportation and escort individuals to community events and appointments.
  • Participate in fire safety procedures and emergency response planning.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
