Institute for Community Living (ICL) is a non-profit organization that provides life-saving care to New Yorkers in need. We are seeking a part-time candidate for the role of Direct Support Professional I (DSP I) to join our team.
Job Summary:The DSP I will provide a variety of levels of support and services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD). This includes encouraging, guiding, teaching, and advocating for individuals to promote their growth and independence.
Responsibilities:- Assist individuals with personal care, including bathing, hair and nail care, toileting, and grooming.
- Teach and reinforce individuals in using and caring for eyeglasses, hearing aids, and prostheses.
- Assist individuals with medical care, including administering medications and teaching individuals to self-administer medications.
- Perform household care tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Accompany individuals to community events and provide support and assistance as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience working with individuals with IDD preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.
- Competitive hourly rate.
