Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Credentialing Specialist to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Medical Staff Administration Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our credentialing and privileging processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement credentialing and privileging policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of practitioner credentials, including education, training, licensure, and certification, to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws and accrediting agency standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical department chairs and other stakeholders to develop and revise clinical privilege criteria.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clinical department chairs, chief administrative officers, and practitioners, interpreting medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as a mentor to other credentialing specialists, providing training and guidance on credentialing and privileging processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Current NAMSS certification as CPCS and/or CPMSM.
  • Advanced knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, and NCQA and Title 22 accreditation standards and regulations.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of credentialing and privileging, with expertise in specific areas, including formulating strategies and administering policies and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dual NAMSS certification as CPMSM and CPCS.
  • Experience with MD-Staff Credentialing Database Software.
  • Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
