Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Credentialing Specialist to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Medical Staff Administration Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the credentialing and privileging processes for our medical staff are accurate, efficient, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement credentialing and privileging policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and NCQA standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical department chairs to develop and revise clinical privilege criteria.
  • Supervise and train credentialing specialists to ensure accurate and timely completion of credentialing and privileging applications.
  • Verify education, training, clinical experience, peer references, current licensure and certification, and malpractice history through primary sources to complete credentialing and recredentialing applications.
  • Ensure that credentials meet criteria set forth in the Medical Staff Bylaws as well as accrediting standards and regulations.
  • Represent the department on the Credentialing Committee and provide effective resolution and follow-up to identified issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Current NAMSS certification as CPCS and/or CPMSM.
  • Advanced knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, and NCQA and Title 22 accreditation standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of FPPE/proctoring processes and procedures.
  • Ability to complete job responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy under minimum supervision.
  • Discretion and judgment in the handling of confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in the overall field with expertise in specific areas, including credentialing, privileging, formulating strategies, and administering policies and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dual NAMSS certification as CPMSM and CPCS.
  • Experience with MD-Staff Credentialing Database Software.
  • Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Minimum of two (2) years meeting management experience.
