Lead Estimator for Substation Projects

Position Title: Senior Estimation Specialist - Electrical Substations
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Company Overview: Fairway Electric Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) located in Wilton, New Hampshire, dedicated to providing a wide range of electrical services, focusing on transmission, substation, and distribution systems.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop precise and detailed bid estimates for mid to large-scale high voltage GIS/AIS projects, encompassing equipment, materials, construction, and labor costs.
- Conduct all take-offs and quantity surveys in accordance with standardized company procedures.
- Evaluate project scopes, create cost alternatives, and ensure a thorough understanding of designs and specifications in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Request quotes from subcontractors and approved vendors for materials and equipment.
- Accurately prepare and submit scope letters, bid forms, and other bid documents within specified deadlines.
- Engage in construction turnover meetings with the Operations Group and contribute to the enhancement of estimating guidelines.
- Perform site visits to verify project conditions and assist field personnel in developing or recommending change orders as necessary.
- Support technical proposals and ensure compliance with bid deadlines and customer presentation requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical and substation estimation.
- Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code and construction industry standards.
- Proficient in computerized bidding software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and experience with both GIS/AIS. Additional experience in renewable energy projects and civil utility is advantageous.
- Strong client focus and adept problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management or a related field.
- Experience in estimating projects or relevant engineering experience.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
