Position Title: Senior Substation Estimator

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Company Overview: Fairway Electric Inc., located in Wilton, New Hampshire, is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that specializes in a wide range of electrical services, focusing on transmission, substation, and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop precise and comprehensive bid estimates for mid to large-scale high voltage GIS/AIS projects, encompassing equipment, materials, construction, and labor costs.
  • Conduct all take-offs and quantity surveys in accordance with company-standardized protocols.
  • Evaluate project scopes, create cost alternatives, and ensure a thorough understanding of designs and specifications in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Request subcontractor and material/equipment quotes from approved suppliers.
  • Prepare and submit scope letters, bid forms, and other bid documents accurately and punctually.
  • Engage in construction turnover meetings with the Operations Group and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of estimating guidelines.
  • Perform site visits to verify project conditions and assist field personnel in formulating or recommending change orders as necessary.
  • Support technical proposals and ensure compliance with bid deadlines and customer presentation requirements.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in electrical and substation estimating.
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code and construction industry standards.
  • Familiarity with computerized bidding software and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and both GIS/AIS systems. Additional experience in renewable energy projects and civil utility is advantageous.
  • Strong client focus coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as required.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in bid meetings and develop effective bid strategies.
  • Conduct thorough and timely cost analyses.
  • Review project proposals to prepare budgets and cost estimates.
  • Collect, update, and analyze historical cost data.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Experience in estimating projects or relevant engineering experience.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
