Job Overview

Salary: $18 per hour and up D.O.E

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the Intermodal Operations Coordinator at Tri Star Freight System, Inc. is to effectively plan, schedule, and manage the dispatching of freight for our clients. This position is crucial for ensuring the timely and precise delivery of goods, playing a key role in customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Intermodal Operations Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Terminal Operations and will also have indirect reporting responsibilities to the CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the Transportation, Freight, Supply Chain, or Logistics sectors.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Dispatcher within the transportation or freight industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in container Intermodal Dispatch.
  • Experience working with owner operators for at least 1 year.
  • 1 year of experience in port and rail operations.

Licensing / Certification

  • Valid Driver's License required.

  • Proficient problem-solving skills with the ability to manage various concrete variables.

  • Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and effective prioritization of tasks.
  • Competence in conducting root cause analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to adapt to changes and challenges.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective customer and team interactions.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications and industry-specific software.
  • Dependability and reliability in attendance and punctuality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute all duties associated with Intermodal Dispatching.
  • Maintain professional relationships with owner/operators to enhance driver retention.
  • Coordinate load and empty container management.
  • Schedule and confirm loading and delivery appointments.
  • Process and manage work orders efficiently.
  • Monitor and respond to emails and communications promptly.
  • Prepare daily reports and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Facilitate effective communication with customers regarding delivery updates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain confidentiality.
  • Represent Tri Star Freight System with professionalism in all interactions.
