Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled Mission Planning Software Architect to join our team at Spaceflight Industries. As a key member of our Mission Planning Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing software systems for autonomous constellation operations. Your expertise in software system design, architecture, and algorithm implementation will be crucial in developing and maintaining optimal, automated autonomous operations for the BlackSky constellation.

About Us
BlackSky is a real-time intelligence company that owns and operates the world's most advanced space-based intelligence platform. Our mission is to provide customers with satellite imagery, automated analytics, and high-frequency monitoring of strategic locations, economic assets, and events from around the globe. We are trusted by allied military and intelligence organizations and commercial companies to deliver foresight into critical matters that affect national security and the economy.

About the Role
As a Mission Planning Software Architect, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of software products for autonomous constellation operations. You will work closely with our mission planning, ground software, and product engineers to plan and execute autonomous constellation operations software products. Your responsibilities will include modeling, implementing, and testing concepts of operation for autonomous planning of various constellation activities, including imaging, system calibration, propulsion, or other critical activities. You will also develop production-level software in Go specifically for mission planning algorithms and supporting subroutines. In addition, you will support ongoing constellation operations and customer fulfillment efforts as a mission planning subject matter expert.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following fields: computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, or another computational field. You should have at least eight years of relevant software development experience, familiarity with satellite first principles, and solid experience in developing and deploying production-level systems at scale. You must also be able to independently design and implement software improvements or features in support of mission planning with minimal supervision.

Benefits
In addition to your salary of $140,000 per year, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off. We also offer opportunities for professional growth and development, as well as a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
