Autonomous Space Operations Engineer

At BlackSky, we are looking for a highly skilled Autonomous Space Operations Engineer to join our Mission Planning Engineering team. This integrated product team is working to develop and maintain optimal autonomous operations for the BlackSky constellation.
About the RoleWe need an expert in software system design and architecture, data structures, efficient data storage and retrieval, software performance and scaling, and algorithm implementation. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in developing and deploying production-level systems at scale.
The role involves developing and tracking requirements, schedules, and technical implementation for various mission planning products. Opportunities exist for production code development in Python and Go, as well as internal tooling development for measuring KPIs, troubleshooting performance problems, and identifying inefficiencies.
Responsibilities- Contribute to mission planning integrated product team interfacing with ground software and product engineers.
- Model, implement, and test concepts of operation for autonomous planning of various constellation activities.
- Support ongoing constellation operations and customer fulfillment efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, or a computational field.
- At least twelve years of relevant software development experience.
Estimated Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on location and experience. We offer a competitive compensation package including benefits and opportunities for growth and professional development.
