Position Overview

The Patient Access Coordinator serves as a vital member of the Pre-Access Unit, primarily focusing on securing necessary authorizations for radiology examinations and services. This role is essential in ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient care by collaborating with various stakeholders, including physician offices and insurance providers.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Patient Access Coordinator include:

  1. Confirming essential demographic and clinical details pertinent to patients' radiology services.
  2. Assessing insurance eligibility and benefits to facilitate the authorization process.
  3. Obtaining necessary approvals from third-party payers and their designated review organizations.
  4. Documenting all interactions and activities accurately in the electronic health record system.

This position demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to navigate complex insurance processes to ensure financial security for patient services.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of health insurance eligibility and authorization protocols.
  • Familiarity with reimbursement policies and government program regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze data effectively.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities and the capacity to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
