Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative II to join our team at Alta Hospitals. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient and orderly admission of patients, while maintaining accurate records and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Registration and Admission: Registers all patients according to department procedures, completes admission forms accurately, and verifies medical record status using Master Patient Index function.
  • Financial and Insurance Verification: Ensures each account is billable, verifies insurance coverage and eligibility, and collects payments and issues receipts.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Operates PBX, answers incoming calls, and transfers to the appropriate department or patient room in a professional manner. Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and others, and maintains confidentiality of patients, families, employees, and visitors.
  • Physician Authorization and Referral: Ensures physicians are authorized to admit patients and refers delinquent physicians to the hospital administrator or designee.
Requirements
  • Two years of admitting office and/or PBX operator experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Understanding of Medical Terminology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain a work pace appropriate to workload
  • Computer literacy and proficiency
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
