Position Overview:
This role acts as the primary in-person liaison for patients within a healthcare setting. It is designed for positions within a hospital environment. The representative is responsible for gathering all essential information to facilitate patient registration and financial clearance.

Welcomes patients and their families, ensuring the collection and verification of pertinent details during the registration and financial clearance process for service delivery.

Enhances the overall patient experience through every interaction by serving as the customer service representative at the point of care, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of Sutter Health's system and the services provided.


Job Description:

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
At least 1 year of recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • General understanding of patient access and financial counseling processes in both acute and non-acute environments.
  • Familiarity with insurance protocols and medical terminology.
  • Awareness of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) and Consent Laws.
  • Strong time management abilities, capable of handling frequent in-person patient interactions while accurately maintaining and documenting data in registration systems.
  • Proficient in navigating multiple computer systems with precision and efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with active listening capabilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a diverse setting.
  • Ability to meet or exceed established customer service, productivity, and quality benchmarks.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information responsibly.
