Position Overview:

The Patient Registration Coordinator plays a vital role in the healthcare facility by managing patient intake and registration processes efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately enter and update patient demographic data.
  • Facilitate the registration of patients and ensure all necessary paperwork is processed.
  • Collect upfront payments from patients as required.
  • Assist in escorting patients and their documentation to the preoperative area.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients and introducing oneself.
  • Gather and verify patients' insurance details, explaining co-payments and deductibles.
  • Handle registration information with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Distribute hospital information, brochures, and necessary forms to patients.
  • Ensure that all patient signatures are obtained on consent and insurance documents.
  • Support the policies of the hospital and department, collaborating with the department director and administration.
  • Offer assistance and knowledge to other departments, physician offices, and colleagues.
  • Maintain effective communication with other departments, ensuring minimal complaints.
  • Provide courteous and positive direction to patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, demonstrating flexibility with changes in tasks and personnel.
  • Maintain proficiency in operating necessary office equipment and report any required repairs promptly.
  • Reflect professionalism in all duties and demonstrate knowledge of procedures to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Serve as backup for the receptionist and radiology scheduler as needed.
  • Utilize Meditech for patient registration, payment collection, and statistical reporting.
  • Promptly notify supervisors or directors of any issues encountered.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Patient Access Services Manager.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred. Strong typing skills (minimum of 45 wpm) and familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems are advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to multitask effectively.
