Job Overview

As a Consulting Engineer at Jensen Hughes, you will become part of a vibrant team of nuclear consultants spread across the country.

In addition to your technical duties, you may also have the chance to engage in ongoing research projects, such as the development of new reactor PRA models, advancements in human reliability studies, and contributions to software development efforts.

Beyond technical tasks, effective project management will be a key expectation, which includes crafting proposals, efficiently allocating resources, and ensuring transparent communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks tailored to your skills and interests, including but not limited to:
  • Developing and maintaining PRA models for various internal and external hazards (e.g., Fire, High Winds, Seismic PRA), with an emphasis on optimizing models for risk mitigation and performance efficiency.
  • Conducting human reliability assessments and analyzing dependencies within intricate systems.
  • Performing accident analyses utilizing specialized modeling software.
  • Creating and updating Level II PRA models.
  • Generating calculations to support diverse PRA applications such as Mitigating Systems Performance Index (MSPI), Maintenance Rule, Risk-Informed Completion Time (RICT), Surveillance Frequency Control Program (SFCP), and 50.69 categorization.
  • Assisting utilities in understanding and adhering to risk-informed regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience is essential.
  • Prior experience in PRA internal events, fire PRA, external hazards, and risk-informed applications is crucial.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills are necessary, given the collaborative nature of our work and the requirement to effectively convey technical information to various stakeholders.
  • US Citizenship is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in nuclear power plant engineering, nuclear systems, licensing, operations, or advanced nuclear technologies is highly advantageous.
  • Project management capabilities, including the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, would be beneficial in this position.
