In this role, you will collaborate closely with mechanical and controls engineering teams to devise innovative solutions that advance this program from research and development through design validation and into full-scale production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, assemble, modify, or repair specialized tooling and testing equipment.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering teams and technicians to provide design feedback, ensure project execution, and assist with commissioning.
  • Maintain the tooling work area and manage the inventory of welding and fabrication supplies.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and meet ambitious deadlines.
  • Support various development, production, and facilities teams as needed.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet Amazon's driver eligibility criteria.
  • Capable of lifting up to 49 pounds occasionally, standing or walking for extended periods (with breaks), and frequently pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

A Day in the Life:
The Fabrication Specialist will leverage their unique skill set to address engineering challenges.

You will work alongside Engineers, Technicians, and Machine Shop personnel to create and deliver custom fabricated fixtures and devices.

About the Team:

The Kuiper Tooling Operations (KTO) team is a diverse group of Technicians dedicated to providing mechanical support for Project Kuiper. Our strength lies in delivering innovative and effective solutions in real-time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a custom welding and fabrication environment.

  • Proficient in manufacturing precision components using manual machining equipment (mill/lathe).
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • 2+ years of experience in reading, interpreting, and executing mechanical drawings.
  • 1+ year of experience with CAD software.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with rigging and lifting operations.

  • Degree or certification in a related field.
  • Knowledge of CNC conversational programming.

Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $73,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,200/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is determined by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
